Artist and historian Giuseppe Settinieri

DESCRIPTION:

In this lecture, artist and historian Giuseppe Settinieri will discuss the individuals that Central Park co-designer Frederick Law Olmsted met and socialized with while living on Staten Island. Giuseppe will discuss William Henry Vanderbilt, George William Curtis, George Putnam, and many other Staten Island residents who had a lasting impact on Olmsted’s personal and professional life. Giuseppe will also be reading from Olmsted’s letters, which help to bring nineteenth-century Staten Island to life.
