Patricia M. Salmon, FOBH Historian and a Curator of History, retired, from the Staten Island Museum.

DESCRIPTION
A look at the thriving tradition of German lager beer brewing that began on Staten Island in the 1850s. After vast numbers of German immigrants arrived in America, some used their brewing knowledge to create a robust industry that was welcomed and widely enjoyed. Several brewers utilized the fresh water and geology of Staten Island to perfect their brew!

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION
Ample parking in lot across the street for Flagship and the adjoining businesses. It’s mid-block, down a ramp (easy to miss). No charge, self-park. Short .7 mile walk from ferry, and directly across from Tompkinsville Train Station.
