Sean Ryan a licensed landscape architect, graduated from the Rutgers University Landscape Architecture program and earned a Certificate in Historic Preservation from Drew University. For 25 years, he has specialized in Frederick Law Olmsted’s ideals of democratic open spaces, studying Olmsted’s innovative grading, creative planting, and more. Sean has secured a DOE (Determination of Eligibility) on 5,000 acres of Olmsted parks, gotten three parks listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is currently working with a non-profit organization to have a 15-mile, 1,200-acre parkway (Rahway River Parkway) listed on the National Register. Sean has also served as director of the Historic American Landscape Survey (HALS) for the State of New Jersey, where he deepened his knowledge of historic American landscapes.
