Sunday, July 23 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Worlds Fair 1964

The year 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the 1964 World’s Fair. What was the 1964 World’s Fair?

How did Staten Island participate? Who was there? We will also look at Staten Island’s participation in the World’s Fair of 1939. One thing is for sure Naturalist/Educator Carlton Beil, who once owned the Olmsted Beil House, presented our borough and its natural history at that Fair more than 85 years ago. Let’s also talk about the World’s Fair of 1893 too. You will never guess who designed the grounds for this Chicago based extravaganza … Come share your experiences and bring artifacts to the show as we share our research on these rare events.

Speaker: Patricia Salmon,  FOBH Historian and Curator of History (retired) at the Staten Island Museum
