A Valentine’s Day program focusing on historic love that has been experienced on Staten Island. Historian Patricia Salmon will celebrate the love expressed by Frederick Law Olmsted in his writings, poems, and letters. Ms. Salmon will also provide a glimpse into the many accomplishments of this father of landscape architecture who created Central Park and Prospect Park, as well as the years he spent on the Island.

Ms. Salmon will further share the love stories of some other Staten Islanders, including scientists Nathaniel and Elizabeth Britton, and photographer Alice Austen and Gertrude Tate. She will conclude with a look at the modern-day love stories of naturalist Carlton and Louise Beil and of hoteliers Richard and Lois Nicotra. This presentation will deeply touch the hearts of all romantics.
