Oct. 12, 2021 Celebrating the Parks and Preserves of Staten Island!

Speaker: Patricia M. Salmon, a Curator of History retired from the Staten Island Museum. and Historian of the Friends of Olmsted-Beil House. Ms. Salmon is an Adjunct Professor at the College of Staten Island and a guest lecturer at Wagner College.

Join us for an in-depth look at Wolfe’s Pond Park, High Rock Park, Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve (where Carlton Beil taught thousands of us about nature!), the Arden Heights Woods, the Mount Loretto Unique Area, and, of course, the Olmsted-Beil House Park. History, wildlife, habitats, rare and endangered species, and more will be examined.

Pre-registration is required: Pre-register by texting or calling 917-608-6437 or by emailing SalmonF@aol.com.

Cost: $8. Exact change is requested.

Program will be held outdoors by a campfire. In the event of rain, we will move indoors.

Park on Woods of Arden Avenue. Walk to Hylan Blvd and turn left. At the red Olmsted sign, turn left onto the walkway, walk around the right side of the house, and proceed to the backyard of 4485 Hylan Blvd.

Program attendance is limited owing to COVID. If programs are moved indoors, we ask that only vaccinated people attend and that everyone wears a mask. Also, please attend only if you are comfortable.
