Erastus Wiman: A 19th-Century Vision of Staten Island July 8, 2021

$10.00He was one of Staten Island’s most fascinating personalities, and he developed numerous grand plans for the Island’s future. Among his proposals was the Woods of Arden Inn (now the Olmsted-Beil House). It would serve as a recreational hotspot that would bring the masses onto his Staten Island trains and ferries. What were his plans for the Olmsted-Beil House? What were his plans for Staten Island? What came to fruition and what did not? Discover and get a glimpse into Mr. Wiman’s unique personality, and his economic and recreational vision for Staten Island.

Join Staten Island public historian and FOBH member Patricia M. Salmon outdoors at the historic Kaasmann House, 4475 Hylan Boulevard, Eltingville, Staten Island on four evenings in July for fascinating talks on Staten Island history. Please park on Woods of Arden Avenue.
